If you look at my little liveblogging whilst watching this, you can tell that I absolutely loved this movie. LOLling all over the place. Good ole sexy Tom Cruise before he was crazy. Kelly McGillis was actually really good and not too terribly 80s looking. Anthony Edwards was great. Val Kilmer was just hilarious. All the shots looked like he was talking way too close to Tom so it was like he was going in for the kiss every single time. If you’ve seen Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang you know why that’s funny. Speaking of kissing, I have never seen so much tongue visibly used in a love scene as there was between Tom and Kelly. But I digress. Loved the soundtrack (again, lol) and the aerial acrobatics and fight sequences were actually really well done, even 25 years later. Tony Scott’s a solid director and was in top form here. Moral of the story? I loved this for what it is and would definitely watch it again. [Though, disclaimer, I’m not saying it was The Godfather or anything.
