frankly, my dear...

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (#131)

As far as sequels got, this is legit. Perfectly flavor and same fantastic performances with no one (writers, director, actors) being allowed to indulge their favorite elements to the detriment of the film. Still totally in love with Robert Downey, Jude Law, Kelly Reilly and Co. Guy Ritchie’s direction is still perfect in its stylization and the effects are sublime. The first half was a little bit longer than it needed to be and was borderline on dragging, but the action sequences are so awesome throughout that I didn’t really mind. Plus all plants totally pay off, which is always a good thing. Decidedly pleased with the sequel to one of the movies I enjoy most.

Day 14: A Movie No One Would Expect You to Love
Iron Man
Okay this is a kind of weird one for me to choose, and I’m not sure exactly how accurate it is, but since someone actually said to me yesterday (in a shocked tone), “YOU like Iron Man?” It seems like the logical choice. And the answer to the question is: YES I LIKE IRON MAN!! I don’t know how, but I completely missed out on the initial theatrical run and saw it in a B-level theater in my town after it left the main one. I saw it three times in the span of a week. Drunk people in the back and a small smudge on the screen could not deter how much I like this movie. (it’s even a star of my DVD collection) I love superhero movies and I have to say that this one is my favorite. It ignited my love affair with Robert Downey Jr movies, too - for which I will be eternally grateful. As far as superhero movies goes, it has it all and I cannot wait for the second one. I’m hopefully going to see it opening weekend but it might have to wait a bit. Suffice to say, I am beyond excited. That ending moment and line…. so excellent. Words cannot describe how happy it makes me. :)

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

It’s been a while since I did a movie recommendation post, so here’s a good one to make up for it. So funny. Robert Downey Jr (freshly cleaned up from the drugs so he’s pretty skinny) runs around with his finger in a bag of ice for most of the movie and gay Val Kilmer is hilarious. Watch it.

Perry: Go. Sleep badly. Any questions, hesitate to call.
Harry: Bad.
Perry: Excuse me?
Harry: Sleep bad. Otherwise, it seems like the mechanism that allows sleep —
Perry: What, fuckhead? “Badly” is an adverb. Who taught you grammar? Out. Vanish.

You give the camera that look Robert Downey Jr.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks kind of like old Ringo Starr without the neck beard here?
