Take Me Home (#45)

I generally distrust road trip movies. I’ve been in enough intro-level screenwriting classes to recognize the devices and literal “character on a journey of self discovery” tropes. But I quite enjoyed this one! Sam Jaeger pulls quadruple duty as star-writer-director-producer and the end product is much more seemless than one might expect. He’s affable and relatable and draws us into the story along with the performance from Amber Jaeger, who happens to be his wife. While the honesty of the characters is stronger than the dialogue at moments, I found it to be a really believable and entertaining indie chick flick wonderfully light on quirk. Recommended on Netflix streaming.
