The 400 Blows (#72) (#166)

My experience with the French New Wave movement has been largely limited to clips and Breathless, which I didn’t love, so I’ve generally avoided watching the genre. I really enjoyed this though. It’s more toned back than it’s followers, and beautifully told and shot. It’s funny, honest, and bittersweet and I really loved the music. The final shot is iconic fora reason, and the entire film supports its well deserved reputation as a classic.
